Overview

If you decide you would like to take part in the FIRST study,
you will be asked to sign a consent form to
show you are happy to take part.

You will be randomised to receive one of three
splints. Randomisation is a fair process where
patients are as likely to be assigned to each type of
splint. This produces groups that are as equivalent
as possible to enable a fair comparison.

Your hand therapist will fit your study splint at the
same appointment when your splint would be fitted
if you were not taking part in the study.
