
Professor Joseph Dias

Joe Dias is Professor in Hand and Orthopaedic Surgery and Head of Academic Team of Musculoskeletal Surgery (AToMS) at the University Hospitals of Leicester. He is a Consultant Hand and Orthopaedic Surgeon for the University Hospitals of Leicester.
He has published over 160 scientific articles, over 20 other publications and over 30 chapters in books most on hand surgery. He has 24 publications on scaphoid fractures. He has authored multiple national reports and NICE accredited clinical pathways.
Professor Dias has received a number of grants from societies and companies to fund his studies, including a grant from the BSSH for a national study on the outcome of Dupuytren’s contracture surgery and a £2.2 million grant from NIHR HTA to investigate scaphoid fracture management. He is the Chief Investigator for POST, POST+, VOC and PreMieRE (Patient Safety) Study. He is a co-applicant on the HTA funded (£1.9 million) UKFROST and DRAFFT2 study and is the chief investigator for the DISC (£1.9 million) study.
