Ms Holly Morris graduated from the University of Leicester in 2008. She undertook basic surgical training in New Zealand before returning home, to the East Midlands, where she trained in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery, obtaining the FRCS(Tr&Orth) in 2022. Holly undertook fellowship training at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre and the Auckland Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Unit.
Holly has a special interest in the management of paediatric and congenital hand differences. She was awarded both the BSSH Stack Travelling Fellowship and Newton Travelling Fellowship to develop her interest. With these awards, Holly visited Stanford Medicine (California) and Washington University (St Louis) in the United States, North Shore Hospital (Sydney) and the Royal Children’s Hospital (Melbourne) in Australia and the Dr Paul Brand Centre for Hand Surgery in Vellore, India.
Following a short-term consultant post in Auckland, Holly returned home to the East Midlands where she was appointed to a substantive consultant NHS post in the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in 2025.
Ms Morris has a strong interest in research. Her PhD focused on the role of sustainable textiles within the healthcare setting and the waste created by disposable surgical gowns and drapes. Work from this was submitted to the Covid-19 Inquiry and she has advised the Royal College of Surgeons Sustainability group, contributing guidance on textile use in surgery for the Green Surgery Report. Holly has published papers and textbooks, spoken internationally on both surgical and textile matters relevant to her expertise and supervised postgraduate students. She is currently a member of the International Council of the Textile Institute.
