Chris Bainbridge graduated from Aberdeen University in 1981. He trained in plastic surgery in Newcastle upon Tyne and Canniesburn Hospital, Glasgow. He spent 6 months as Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Ghana with further fellowships in Manchester and Wrightington before becoming a Consultant Hand Surgeon in Derby in 1994.

He is a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand and has been a reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery.

Chris Bainbridge has a particular interest in Dupuytrens, thumb arthritis and the treatment of brachial plexus injuries in adults and children. He is the lead in the unit for research and a visiting Professor at the University of Derby
